What is a Comprehensive Evaluation?
Evaluation Process
Initial Consultation
A free 15-minute phone call to determine whether a comprehensive evaluation is appropriate.
First Appointment (Virtual)
Families complete required online forms prior to the appointment. The virtual meeting includes a brief observation of the client and a discussion of background information.
Second Appointment (In-Person)
Direct, in-person assessment lasting approximately 1–2 hours. A parent or legal guardian must be present for the duration of the appointment, along with the client.
Third Appointment (Results & Report)
A comprehensive written report is provided, followed by a review of results with the evaluator.
Additional Notes
Not all assessments are appropriate for every child due to age or developmental level.
The evaluator reserves the right to determine whether an evaluation is appropriate.

You do not want to lose valuable early intervention time by waiting for a diagnosis. Insight Autism will complete your evaluation within 7-10 business days for most clients. Additionally, you can schedule your evaluation within 30 days or less. Our goal is to decrease waiting time in Jackson, TN and surrounding areas.

No referral is required however we encourage you to check with your pediatrician or other health care provider to confirm that they will continue the diagnostic process with our report.

No, this is an evaluation only. Having this paperwork can expedite your diagnosis. Once you have your comprehensive report you can give it to your health care provider to review and they will make a diagnosis based on the data provided.

For most families there will be three appointments.
The first appointment will be virtual where your child will need to be present. This appointment will take 15-30 minutes. You will receive online forms to complete prior to meeting.
The second appointment will be in person where the ADOS-2 will be conducted with our evaluator.
The third appointment will be virtual where results will be reviewed and the comprehensive evaluation will be provided.

One parent or legal caregiver must be present for the assessment. Only one or both parents and child who will be assessed should be at the appointment. Please do not bring other family members.

No, the evaluator can accept or reject conducting an evaluation. We want you to have the most accurate data and not every client is appropriate for our evaluation.

Yes, after a free 15 minute consult a 50% deposit is required to reserve an evaluation appointment. The remaining balance is due prior to the testing appointment or before the written report is released.
Because evaluation appointments are reserved specifically for your family and require significant preparation, deposits are non-refundable once services have begun.

We understand things happen!
If you need to reschedule an evaluation appointment, at least a 3 day notice is required.
Cancellations made with fewer than 7 days notice, or failure to attend a scheduled appointment, will result in forfeiture of the deposit.
Once the evaluation process has begun (including record review, interviews, or testing), deposits on non-refundable.

During last appointment together we will review results of the assessments. A PDF copy will be provided to you to share as you continue you diagnostic process.

Due to significant needs in our area for children we are not currently offering adult evaluations. However we are hoping to add adult evaluations in the near future. Please email to be added to our adult waitlist.

Yes, this evaluation is an autism-specific evaluation. It does not include comprehensive cognitive or speech-language testing. Results should be interpreted in this context.
